Christina Metaxa, estudiante de 17 años, interpretará en Festival de Eurovisión representando a Chipre la canción «Firefly», compuesta por su hermano mayor Nikolas Metaxas para ella misma. Así describe Nikolas a su hermana y la relación entre ella y la canción: «Christina es tímida y muy sensible y muchas veces necesita un empujón para que corra riesgos en su vida y así lograr conseguir sus sueños, como hacen todos los jóvenes. La canción Firefly habla de esas inseguridades y dudas que a menudo tiene la gente y trata de dar un motivo para tener una pizca de fe». Firefly será, pues, una canción sobre la importancia de la fe en nuestros sueños, de encontrar esa luz que nos dé fuerzas para alcanzarlos y, de esta forma, diferenciarnos del resto de la humanidad, convirtiéndonos en seres únicos e irrepetibles.

Además de dedicarse a sus estudios, pintar y cantar, el pasado mes de marzo de 2009, Christina tuvo un papel en la obra de Mamma Mia de su país. Cultiva muchas artes, entre ellas también el baile, de hecho pertenece al grupo Diastasis, uno de los más famosos grupos de baile chipriotas. Escribe además historias para niños y poesía y en breve publicará sus dosm primeros libros, uno con tres historias para los más pequeños y otro con una antología de poesías.
